Undoubtedly the world's most famous Rolex watch model, the Rolex Submariner is establishing itself as collector watch enthusiasts' most popular and sought-after Rolex model. An iconic model of the brand and almost always present in a collection of watches in the eighties,

the Rolex submariner 5513 model is now increasingly rare and increasingly valued on the pre-owned market. This model, manufactured between 1962 and 1989 for the last copies, remains one of the most popular in the Rolex submariner family.

At the time of manufacture in 1971, the submariner 5513 model was at the forefront of the watchmaking industry's highest standards of manufacture and finishing. As such, the Submariner is a watch used by many professionals and soldiers, like the Rolex mil-sub used by English combat swimmers, or like civilian models worn by many professionals, as stated in publicities of the time. At that time, Sir Roger Moore, alias James Bond 007, was one of the many members of the celebrity club who wore a Rolex 5513. (see the article on 'the Submariner, an icon of the depths' in our mostra-mag blog, watch history section) Iconic watch from the seventies. It was during this time that Rolex watch models began to gain popularity. The Submariner model was worn by travellers and journalists who, given the notoriety of this watch and especially its internationally recognized value, would use it to buy or barter a return ticket in the event of a problem during travels.

This vintage Rolex submariner 5513 has a beautiful matte black dial two lines (feet first) with tritium indexes which, over time, has taken on an exceptional patina called in the world of the split leather collection or even crust of leather (the dial takes on a slightly granulated appearance) at the bottom of the dial is the mention swiss-t<25 indicating the use of tritium as a luminescent material. The glass is acrylic domed (Plexiglas dome) and magnifies the dial. Indexed unidirectional rotating bezel, 40 mm diameter case in excellent condition. The bracelet has a great length and is adjustable for a wrist of up to 24 cm.

The movement of this watch is self-winding; its reference is the 26-jewel Rolex calibre 1520, and it operates at a speed of nineteen thousand vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve autonomy after a complete winding of forty-two hours. The winding crown is of the large model type or also designated big crown. It is protected by horns called crown guards, the width at the lugs (which are pierced to disassemble the bracelet easily) is 20 mm, and the steel bracelet bears the reference 93150 with end links 580.

In terms of the collection, this watch in perfect original condition represents a must-have for collectable Rolex watches for men or women. Its size of 40 mm in diameter and its low thickness make it an easy and pleasant look to wear. Its physiognomy evokes neat vintage productions, and the exceptional state in which it is located will allow it unequivocally to still function for a long time.
