Omega 2531.80 Seamaster 300 COSC Fullset men's diver's watch from 2007 calibre 1120 chronometer-certified by the COSC of geneva. Symbolic model of the Bienne brand, since 1957, the omega Seamaster model has been the best in waterproof watches within the manufacture for more than sixty years. Ways at the forefront of technology and watchmaking technological evolution, the Seamaster will allow, over time and eras, the other references of the omega range to progress and improve their robustness. The first omega was worn by James bond 007 (Pierce Brosnan) and remained an essential icon for any diving watch amateur.
To fully understand the role played by the omega Seamaster in the production of Omega watches, we must go back to its history and evolution. The first Seamaster 300 reference 2913 was born at the same time as two other symbolic models of the brand: the Speedmaster chronograph, whose future legendary career would be oriented a few years later towards space and the rail master because, at the end of the fifty, the world of rail remains the most popular transport of the time and remains synonymous with progress, travel and adventure. Still, the exploration of the seabed and scuba diving featured in the Second World War and its first combat swimmers intrigue and fascinate the general public more. The world of silence by Jacques-Yves Cousteau will win the day sometime later and make the whole generation of fifty-Niners want to take a mask, flippers and snorkel to ride in the depths of the sea.
The sea-master 300 becomes the watch for professional divers, much more affordable than its rival, the Rolex submariner, it stands out as the watch of the underwater world. From 1964, a significant evolution of its case, which went from 39 to 42 mm, improved its robustness and waterproofing capacity (references 165.24 for the Seamaster no-date or 166.024 with date window). A prominent and very noticeable development in the sea world will allow it to equip the submarine forces and military divers of different armies (such as the Royal Navy or the Australian Navy). Omega will even offer a range reserved for workers under sailors with the mythical Seamaster 600 model (with blue dial) ref 166.077 Ploprof, which will equip the men of Cousteau and the first divers of the Comex.
Technological showcase of the brand in terms of waterproofing, it is in a 40 mm steel case that the omega Seamaster 300 will have its best movement of the moment to animate the watch. The Omega calibre 1120, a robust movement, which is based on the technology of the eta 2892-2 movement (which equips several British military watches CWC and also French with the Auricoste b-200 and Bianchi b-300 navy and army combat swimmers). A fantastic self-winding movement delivers a 44hour power reserve, 23 shockproof jewels, COSC chronometer-certified, with a speed of operation of 28800 alternations per hour.
The model presented here is a 2007 watch, vintage of the fiftieth anniversary of the Seamaster. It comes with its box and its original omega papers. A collector's item and a watch in perfect working order are covered by a two-year guarantee and a certificate of authenticity. Testimonial model and of great interest for a collector, it is also a pleasure watch which, in near mint condition, will accompany you on all your adventures, even if the world is not enough for you.
