Jaeger LeCoultre vintage Reverso classic watch in 18 kt yellow gold ref 140.105.1 from 1993, a classic, elegant and unisex used watch, 23 mm wide, 38 mm high and 6 mm thick, which allows it to be worn by wrists of all sizes including small female wrists. A watch whose specific case in three parts which allows the part which contains the movement and which includes the glass protecting the dial to operate, a rotation on itself to preserve the case on the dial side and to bring to light the hidden face of the case which can be engraved with the initials of the owner, possibly reveal a loving dedication, a memory of an event or even a commemorative date.
Many Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso has been engraved since the advent of this model. Today the emblematic watch is often offered by a suitor or a lover who wishes to mark his attachment. The career of this extraordinary watch began on the wrists of polo-loving British soldiers. In the Indies, the idea of a retractable case was born, which would protect the face of the dial, which was previously covered by mineral glass. We are at this time in the thirties, in the middle of the Art-Deco period, and quite naturally, the watch produced will take up its codes and refinement (rectangular time rail and numbers inside, all with a luxurious appearance). This watch attributed to César de Trey, distributor of the Jaeger and Le Coultre factories (yesterday separated into two separate entities), will propose to Antoine Le Coultre to produce a watch that can quickly pivot on itself to expose the back of the case rather than the noble face, more fragile.
The career of the Reverso is launched. It will become the brand's icon, decline in feminine and masculine, and be adorned with artistic variations, mechanisms or watchmaking complications such as the double date window, the tourbillon or the day/night moon faces. Quickly this hidden side will be adorned with heraldic coats of arms, initials or dedications, the creativity of the time helping.
It was delivered here in its classic central size version. The quartz movement does not need to be wound to function. The watch is 18-carat yellow gold and bears no mention, date or initial on its hidden side. The watch is in near-mint condition and comes with a travel case and certificate of authenticity. This Jaeger Le Coultre Reverso is wholly overhauled and covered by a two-year warranty.
