Rolex Submariner 2020. The new 41mm rolex models rock the modern submariner 114060 and 116610LN in the collection.
September 2020 marks the arrival of a new range of Rolex Submariners: with the reference 124060, an undated Submariner replacing the 114060, it is a range that gains slightly more volume...A 41 mm case which replaces the model previous 40 mm, but also a new movement modernized the caliber Rolex 3230 and the caliber 3235 (with date) which respectively equip the Submariner 124060 and the new Submariner Date 126610LN. The main changes to these movements are: a Chronergy escapement, an even better finish and, above all, a power reserve after complete winding which amounts to 70 hours, i.e. more than 45% more than the previous models.
1957-2020 The six generations of Rolex Submariner
An evolution without losing the effective simplicity that explains its timeless success
What are the differences with the previous generation:
A difference in size, which of course will cause a variation in its use, and make it less obvious for wrists of modest size or to wear it discreetly under a shirt sleeve, the material impact of this transformation will directly concern the case , the bezel and the dial, but beyond this set, it is also a width of the bracelet between the lugs which goes from 20mm to 21 mm... it is also on the dial at six o'clock the crown of the rolex logo which is framed by the mention “Swiss Made”. A more massive crown guard that protects the Triplock screw winder and approximates the square shape of the crown guards of contemporary Sea-Dweller models.
Regarding the Rolex Caliber 3230 movement (no date) and its evolution with date window (Caliber 3235), modifications and developments that combine a new Chronergy escapement with non-magnetic blue Sipral Parachrom in an optimized version. The result: exhaust efficiency that gives the new Submariner 45% more operating autonomy. The user will be able to avoid winding his watch for three days while keeping it on time... New lubricants are arriving and of course, the certification by the COSC which designates it as a Chronometer is also attributed to its models. All of these 31-jewel automatic movements have bi-directional winding that beat at a speed of 28,800 vibrations per hour. They are also equipped, like their predecessors, with a Microstella shock absorber device which protects the oscillator and gives them better resistance to shocks.
On the design, new color bezels available frame the steel date Submariners which keep a black dial: green bezel (Kermit type 2” and a blue bezel. (Also available on gold and steel and gold models)
The prices of these new models are changing and increasing somewhat, but it is on the discontinued range that the clear price change will be noticed. With these models arriving, the 40 mm models disappear, whose prices and estimates on the second-hand market are soaring (to culminate with the Rolex Submariner Hulk, bezel and green dial beyond three times its initial price) …
This mid-size range, worn equally by both women and men, recorded an increase of around 40% in its average price observed on the second-hand market.
Another notable increase on the second-hand market: the Submariner Kermit 40 mm from 2004 whose price..."double"...in view of the prices observed in the first months of the year 2020...this collector's watch remains for the world of the collection one of the rarest and coveted Rolex watches like the Cosmograph Daytona.
